I’m now back after two weeks holiday in the USA, which was wonderful. While I was away the work on TRIP’s revamp continued alongside the redesign process. As part of the new design the designers have suggested a new logo design. While I liked the old logo, the fact that we now have TRIP as a registered trademark means we needed to indicate this by adding an ®! So this is what they’ve come up with:

Hey Jon,
Sincere comments, for what they’re worth. The current TRIP logo is cool and recognizable. The suggested logo is very generic 2001 web 2.0 feeling. All it needs is a cheesy “BETA” in a bright red starburst in the top red corner.
I vote against it. Consider changing the colors and typeset of your current logo. I’d recommend keeping your cool pyramid symbol.

I really agree with Dan – the new logo is boring, dull-looking Web 2.0 stuff you see at every corner.
BTW: the TRIP answers logo is just right.

I have to agree, it’s very young and pop culture looking and I vote against it. A more formal font might help with the same design scheme might help? It’s too “comic sans” to me.

I am a young librarian who’s into new ‘stuff,’ and I too feel the logo brings TRIP down a few notches – it doesnt look professional…too much like typical web 2.0 fun things. I’d make it more serious looking.

I really like it. The design is more contemporary. I see what some people are saying about the web 2.0 style but that is what people love at the moment.
